Fractional Laser Resurfacing

This very comfortable treatment stimulates the skin's own natural repair process by directing micro beams into the dermis creating a collagen response. Skin tone and elasticity is improved overall , lines and wrinkles are reduced and a youthful glow is restored. Importantly, acne scarring and stretch marks can be treated.

How does it work?

Approximately 20 % of the skin is targeted during each pulse. This means that 80% of skin is left intact and re -epitheliaisation can quickly happen. Collagen starts to be stimulated during a process of regeneration that goes on for 30 to 60 days. In other words skin continues to improve for weeks after treatment.

What should I expect?

An initial consultation and test patch must be performed. You will be advised to use sun block factor 30-50 both prior to and after your course of treatments. As the sun and in particular UVA is responsible for most skin ageing, it makes sense to protect your investment and prevent further UV harm. Your skin will be sun sensitive following this treatment.

Skin will be cleansed and gently cooled. The laser will then be passed over your face, neck and decollete if you have chosen to have the full area treated. Individual areas of concern can be separately targeted i.e cheek acne. Tiny white dots will be visible for a few hours following your treatment , your face may also be pink and feel hot and prickly as if you been sunbathing. There are various levels from gentle to deep depending on the problem we are treating.

How many treatments will I need?

Usually 3-6 more for deeper acne scarring , spaced 3-4 weeks apart.

What should I expect following treatment?

Usually some heat and a prickly sensation for 24 hours. Application of small amounts of chilled vaseline and Heliocare sun block are soothing. Make up should be avoided for 48 hours. After which a mineral powder such as Coffeeberry is recommended. With the deeper settings there may be a bronzed appearance for a few days. Expect an amount of dryness and flaking as the epidermis peels revealing younger, plumper cells below.
