Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are fine lines on the body that result from tissue under your skin tearing from rapid growth or over -stretching.They are quite common and do not cause any significant medical concerns but are often not thought to be very aesthetically pleasing. Stretch marks commonly appear on the abdomen or breasts post pregnancy or to the thigh, buttock and breast area in adolescents going through growth spurts. Some medical conditions and prolonged use of certain medications are also implicated in their development.

The skin becomes flattened and thin with a pink colour when a stretch mark is developing. Also, the skin can occasionally be itchy and then reddish or purplish lines develop. Over time these lighten to become whitish or flesh-coloured. Stretch marks occurring in adolescents become less visible over time and generally require no treatment. In other cases, if stretch marks are a cause of concern then the following treatments can help

    • Dermaroller
    • IPL to remove redness
    • Idebenone skin peels from Cosmeceuticals

Genuine Dermaroller

Award winning treatment at the Cosmetic Awards 2011-2012

Natural skin regeneration and scar repair therapy.

Medical skin needling or dermaroller is fast becoming the most popular treatment for all forms of skin regeneration, for improving acne scarring and areas of pigmentation, treating sun damaged and aged skin, facial and decollete wrinkles and stretch marks. Results compare very favourably to fractional laser with the added benefit that there isn't the extended down -time that is usually associated with the heat produced from fractional laser.

How does it work?

Genuine Dermaroller is based on the skin's ability to repair itself after injury. The sterile medical device is made from surgical steel and produces thousands of micro-medical needle -columns in the skin . As nurse practitioners we are able to use a device which penetrates to 1.5 mm into the dermis to stimulate the production of collagen, new skin cells and enhance blood supply. The result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin. It is one of the few medical treatments which are suitable for any skin colour and can be used all over the face, neck and decollete. For scarring on the body and stretch marks 2-2.5mm depth is used.

Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ is only available from trained medical practitioners and authorised clinics.

Make sure it's a Genuine Dermaroller™ with its German medical engineering, quality and safety assurance. Do not accept substitutes, only have Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ carried out by a trained medical practitioner at an authorised clinic using Genuine Dermaroller™ medical devices.

What should I expect during the treatment?

You will be given a full consultation during which the procedure will be explained, then asked to sign a consent form. Any make up will be thoroughly cleansed from your skin and local anaesthetic cream applied for 30-45 minutes. Your skin will then be cleansed with an antibacterial solution. The procedure takes around 20 minutes during which time the roller is moved all over the area of skin to be treated many times. Most people find it feels prickly but very bearable . The needle holes heal remarkably quickly. As soon as the procedure is completed Endocare serum will be applied to penetrate deeply into the dermis through the tiny punctures. Endocare Tensage serum is clinically proven to be anti-ageing .The natural growth factor stimulates skin fibroblasts and regenerates the dermis. In addition it contains phytoestrogen, calcium and hexapeptides. For more information please see www.aestheticare.co.uk

How will I look immediately after treatment?

Immediately after a treatment you will look red and flushed similar to moderate sunburn although this will start to settle very quickly in 1-2 hours. The skin may feel tight and sensitive. Any residual redness will last approximately 48 hours. In most cases everything is back to normal within 24 hours. You will be given the highly moisturising Chiroxy cream to use at home for the next 2 weeks, along with the award winning Heliocare suncream factor 50.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are rare. Occasionally tiny bruises can occur. This is more likely if you are taking dietary supplements of Omega 3 or 6 , or have a diet very high in fish. It is advisable to stop these a few days before your treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

3 treatments are advised at 6 weekly intervals. Results are gradual and will take up to 6 weeks to start to be seen. By the end of your course your friends and family will be commenting on how good your skin is looking. Your skin will be plumper, smoother , softer and generally glowing. This treatment is also very good for minimising enlarged pores. Results are consistent and long lasting.
